About ORBIS Southern Africa
ORBIS Southern Africa is a not for profit organisation dedicated to saving sight within the region. It is a branch office of ORBIS International, a global development organisation whose mission is to eliminate avoidable blindness in developing countries. How do we do this? By strengthening the capacity of our local eye health partners to prevent and treat avoidable blindness.
In Southern Africa, ORBIS focusses on developing child friendly services making quality eye care accessible to children in need.
Through capacity building, our partners gain self-sufficiency in providing quality eye care, and residents enjoy quality treatment that is affordable, accessible and sustainable.
Capacity building encompasses:
- Clinical training
- Technical assistance
- Institutional development
- Community education
- Behavioural change
- Health care reform
